With the expansion of the Pennsylvania Railroad in the late 1800s, wealthy Philadelphians built homes in the area, establishing it as an affluent suburb. Today, Ardmore is a thriving community with a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. The town is known for its vibrant downtown district, which features a variety of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.
